Csongvay Blackwood’s Pyli collection is named after the Greek word Πυλη, which translates as gate in English. These Pyli artworks are designed to appear like a gateway to an unnamed place that is accessed via a key, and the internal shape of the Pyli form is shaped as if to fit an ancient skeleton key. The overall design is influenced by Matt’s time spent in Greece, where he was surrounded by Cycladic art and many gates to unnamed places.

The forms of the Pyli collection are presented in three different heights: small, medium and large, and appear in two different variations: the Pyli pieces with a ‘tail’ at either bottom edge are considered as being ‘latched’, while the Pyli pieces that are equally straight on both sides are considered ‘latchless’.
